Boletus were elusive this year in the region!

The Boletus have been elusive this season, refusing to show themselves in the damp forest floor. But the woods always offer something in return if you know where to look. While the porcini stayed hidden, turning up empty-handed was quickly forgotten upon stumbling into a vibrant patch of Lactarius deliciosus. There is a quiet reward in trading the hunt for boletes with a handful of bright saffron-orange milk caps, fresh from the pine needles and glowing under the filtered morning light.
