Hiking map

The outdoor planner that understands nature – not just the fastest way from A to B

A sat nav only asks: how do I get there fastest? The hiking map asks with you: where is it beautiful, when is the light good, which forest grows there, what is growing right now – and will you be back before dark? Tap a point, plan your loop or let us guide you there.

Not just from A to B: an outdoor planner that understands nature

Route planners look for the shortest or fastest way. Outside, other things count: the forest you walk through, the light on the summit, the morning fog, the mushrooms by the path and the time until dark. That is exactly what this map knows – at every point, for every day.

What is here?

Tap any point: weather for the next three days, sunrise and sunset, fog and rime, protected areas and the nearest summit or hut.

The forest beside

With a free account you see at every point how much forest grows there and which tree species – larch, beech, spruce, birch and more.

Loop from here

One tap and the planner builds a loop on real hiking paths – with elevation profile, walking time and car park start.

Navigate here

From where you are to the summit, hut or viewpoint – with voice navigation and an offline map for dead spots.

Back before dark

At the chosen point, the time until dark counts down – so you can plan the way back calmly. Or be at the top right at golden hour.

Ideas for this area

Without a selection, the map suggests what is worth it here right now – viewpoint walk, photo tour, mushroom round – each with the day that suits best.

Mushroom chance on the way

With a free account you can show today’s chance for your favourite mushroom – zoomed in down to single patches of forest.

For photographers

Frequently asked questions

What does the hiking map show?

A topographic map with contour lines, paths and trails, plus summits with elevation, viewpoints, mountain huts, shelters, springs, bathing spots and hiking car parks. Tap any point to see the weather for the next days, sunrise and sunset, whether fog or rime is likely and whether the point lies in a protected area.

Can I plan a tour with the hiking map?

Yes. Tap a point and choose “Loop from here”, “Tour to here” or “Navigate here”. The Waldschatz planner then calculates a real route on hiking paths with elevation profile, walking time, car park start, GPX and PDF – and guides you with voice navigation if you like.

How is the hiking map different from a normal route planner?

A route planner takes you from A to B as fast as possible. Waldschatzfinder plans with nature: at every point it knows the weather, the light and the time until dark, and with a free account also the forest and tree species. It suggests when a viewpoint walk or photo tour is worth it, shows the colourful forests in autumn and, if you like, the day’s mushroom chance. The route follows hiking paths and beautiful stretches instead of the shortest line.

Does the hiking map work without signal?

A route planned in the planner is saved offline on your phone automatically – with a path map and voice prompts. So you find your way even without signal.

Is the hiking map free?

Yes. Map, spots, weather and planning loops work without an account. With a free account you also see the forest at every point and use navigation, offline map, GPX and PDF.
