Sledding runs and slopes with a live snow check
Sledge in the car, kids bundled up, 30 kilometres of driving – and nothing but brown slush on the hill? It does not have to be. We check every sledding run against the snow depth weather stations actually measured today and, if you like, plan the whole afternoon: car park at the run, time until dark and the hot chocolate afterwards.

How the snow check works
Frequently asked questions
Where can I go sledding nearby?
Enter your town above or use your location: you get the nearest sledding runs and slopes, each with today’s snow check. Runs with enough snow come first.
How do you know whether there is snow on a run?
We use the snow depth that weather stations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland measure every day, and carefully infer each run: if a lower station has snow, the run above has it too; if a higher station is snow-free, so is the run below. We always name the station and its height.
How much snow do you need for sledding?
On a meadow from about 15 cm, so the sledge does not drag on grass and stones. On packed forest tracks and prepared runs, 5 to 10 cm is sometimes enough – we show that as “marginal”.
Is sledding safe with small children?
Choose gentle slopes with a clear run-out and no road, stream or fence at the bottom, ride sitting with feet first and do not let small children ride alone. A helmet is sensible. Runs on forest tracks can be icy – walk them first.
Can I plan the whole sledding afternoon?
Yes. The planner idea “sledding hill trip” picks the nearest run with snow, starts at the car park right at the run, factors in the time until dark and suggests a café for afterwards that is actually open then.
Is it free?
Yes – search, snow check, winter map and planner are free and ad-free.
